Bolivar Union St slide show (13) Armorer's Row. Undoubtedly, the best street in Harpers Ferry / Bolivar. Many classic 1847-1849 Armorer houses, plus a few others (incl a couple modern). A pretty good number of structures are still standing, maybe half or so were lost during the war or through neglect (a much better percentage than Upper Town). Probably largely abandoned by property owners during the war due to occupation by Union troops.

Harpers Ferry Fillmore St slide show (7) Fillmore Street runs across the top of Camp Hill from the Town of Bolivar (at Boundary St) to Harpers Cemetery (at Clay St). It is largely the boundary between historic Harpers Ferry (upper town) and Harpers Ferry Natl Park. The historic black Storer College (now NPS Mather Training Center) is located along Fillmore Street). Like most of upper town, most of the houses are turn of the century. A few pre-date the Civil War, for example the Odd Fellows Lodge (Virginia #1). Many of the Storer College structures pre-date the Civil War and were originally headquarters for the Armory, for example the Lockwood House was built in the late 1840's.
